Product description

Self-cleaning wedge wire filters are used in industrial liquid filtration systems where continuous removal of suspended solids is required without the use of disposable filter elements. The FSC-70 self-cleaning filter is designed for medium capacity filtration in industrial processes including water treatment, coatings, adhesives, solvents and oils. The robust stainless steel construction makes the system suitable for demanding operating conditions.

Technical overview

The FSC-70 filter consists of a cylindrical wedge wire filter element combined with a rotating scraper assembly. During operation, the motor-driven cleaning system removes deposited particles from the filter surface and transports them to the sediment chamber. This design allows continuous filtration while maintaining stable pressure conditions and minimal maintenance requirements.

Operating principle

Liquid enters the filter housing and flows through the wedge wire filter element from the outside to the inside. Suspended particles larger than the selected micron rating accumulate on the external surface of the filter screen. The gear motor rotates the cylindrical filter element while the scraper blade removes deposited solids from the screen surface. The separated particles settle in the lower chamber of the housing and can be discharged through the drain valve while filtration continues.

Material options

Typical construction materials include:
  • Stainless steel filter housing (1.4404 / 1.4571)
  • Stainless steel wedge wire filter element (1.4404)
  • Stainless steel scraper blade (1.4310)
  • Industrial worm gear motor
  • Various sealing materials depending on process fluid

Available micron ratings

Typical micron rating options include:
  • 25 µm
  • 50 µm
  • 100 µm
  • 250 µm
  • 500 µm
  • 1000 µm
  • Up to 3000 µm
The micron rating determines the particle size retained on the wedge wire filter surface.

Design and construction

Typical system characteristics include:
  • Motor-driven scraper cleaning mechanism
  • External-to-internal filtration flow
  • Continuous filtration during cleaning
  • Integrated sediment chamber for solids collection
  • Stainless steel industrial construction
  • Flanged pipeline connections
Typical operating parameters include:
  • Maximum flow rate: approx. 13 m³/h

  • Minimal product loss during solids discharge
  • Robust stainless steel industrial construction
  • Wide range of available micron ratings
  • Suitable for demanding process environments

Configuration and quotation

To select the correct self-cleaning filter configuration the following parameters should be defined:
  • Liquid type and viscosity
  • Particle size distribution
  • Required micron rating
  • Flow rate and system pressure
  • Operating temperature
  • Connection size and installation orientation
These parameters determine the correct filter size, screen configuration and cleaning system.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
