Product description

Self-cleaning wedge wire filters are used in industrial liquid filtration systems where continuous removal of suspended solids is required without disposable filter cartridges or filter bags. The FSC-325 self-cleaning filter is designed for high-capacity industrial filtration applications including water treatment, coatings, oils, solvents, adhesives and other process liquids.

Technical overview

The FSC-325 combines a large wedge wire filter element with a motor-driven scraper cleaning system. The filter element provides an increased filtration surface area while maintaining stable flow and pressure conditions. During operation the scraper mechanism removes deposited solids from the filter surface and transports them into the sediment chamber for discharge.

Operating principle

Process liquid enters the filter housing and flows through the wedge wire filter element from the outside to the inside. Suspended solids accumulate on the outer surface of the screen. The gear motor rotates the cylindrical filter element while the scraper removes deposited particles from the filter surface. The separated solids settle in the lower chamber of the housing and are discharged through the drain valve using the internal system pressure. This process allows continuous filtration without interruption.

Material options

Typical materials of construction include:
  • Stainless steel filter housing (1.4404 / 1.4571)
  • Stainless steel wedge wire filter element (1.4404)
  • Stainless steel scraper blade (1.4310)
  • Industrial worm gear motor drive
  • Various sealing materials depending on process fluid

Available micron ratings

Typical micron rating options include:
  • 25 µm
  • 50 µm
  • 100 µm
  • 250 µm
  • 500 µm
  • 1000 µm
  • Up to 3000 µm
The micron rating determines the particle size retained by the wedge wire filter element.

Design and construction

The FSC-325 is designed for high-capacity filtration systems and includes additional maintenance features such as a swing-arm mechanism for easier access to the motor and cover assembly. Typical system characteristics include:
  • Motor-driven scraper cleaning mechanism
  • Large wedge wire filtration surface
  • Swing arm design for easier maintenance access
  • External-to-internal filtration flow
  • Continuous filtration during cleaning
  • Robust stainless steel industrial construction
  • Flanged pipeline connections
Typical operating parameters include:
  • Maximum flow rate: approx. 70 m³/h
  • Operating pressure: 0 – 10 bar (up to 16 bar optional)
  • Operating temperature: +10 °C to +80 °C
  • Electrical connection: 400 V / 50 Hz
  • Protection class: IP65
  • Filter surface area: approx. 1932 cm²
  • Internal volume: approx. 50 litres

Typical applications

Self-cleaning wedge wire filters are commonly used in:
  • Industrial water treatment systems
  • Food and beverage liquid filtration
  • Paint and coating filtration
  • Adhesive and resin processing
  • Oil and lubricant filtration
  • Solvent and chemical filtration
  • Cooling lubricant filtration systems

Key benefits

  • Continuous filtration without disposable filter cartridges
  • Automatic scraper cleaning mechanism
  • Large filtration surface area
  • Minimal product loss during solids discharge
  • High differential pressure resistance
  • Robust stainless steel construction
  • Suitable for high flow industrial filtration systems

Configuration and quotation

To determine the correct filter configuration the following parameters should be specified:
  • Liquid type and viscosity
  • Particle size distribution
  • Required micron rating
  • Flow rate and operating pressure
  • Operating temperature
  • Connection size and installation orientation
These parameters determine the correct filter size, screen configuration and cleaning system settings.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
