Product description

Self-cleaning wedge wire filters are designed for continuous removal of suspended solids from industrial liquids without the use of disposable filter cartridges or bags. These systems support uninterrupted filtration in demanding process environments while reducing maintenance requirements and product loss. The FSC-175 self-cleaning filter is intended for higher capacity industrial liquid filtration applications, including water treatment, coatings, adhesives, solvents, oils and other process fluids.

Technical overview

The FSC-175 combines a cylindrical wedge wire filter element with a motor-driven scraper mechanism. During operation, solids are retained on the outer surface of the filter screen while the rotating scraper removes deposited particles and directs them into the sediment chamber. This design enables continuous filtration with stable operating conditions and simplified maintenance access.

Operating principle

Liquid enters the filter housing and passes through the wedge wire filter element from the outside to the inside. Suspended particles larger than the selected micron rating are retained on the external surface of the screen. The motor-driven scraper continuously removes accumulated solids from the filter element. These solids settle in the lower chamber of the housing and can be discharged through the drain valve while filtration continues.

Material options

Typical materials of construction include:

  • Stainless steel filter housing (1.4404 / 1.4571)
  • Stainless steel wedge wire filter element (1.4404)
  • Stainless steel scraper blade (1.4310)
  • Industrial worm gear motor drive
  • Various sealing materials depending on process fluid

Available micron ratings

Typical micron rating options include:

  • 25 µm
  • 50 µm
  • 100 µm
  • 250 µm
  • 500 µm
  • 1000 µm
  • Up to 3000 µm

The micron rating determines the minimum particle size retained by the wedge wire filter element.

Configuration and quotation

To determine the correct filter configuration the following parameters should be specified:

  • Liquid type and viscosity
  • Particle size distribution
  • Required micron rating
  • Flow rate and operating pressure
  • Operating temperature
  • Connection size and installation orientation

These parameters determine the correct filter size, screen configuration and cleaning system settings.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
