Product description

A round vibratory separator is a circular screening system used for particle separation, grading, and solid-liquid separation in industrial processes. It is designed to classify powders, granules, and slurries using a tensioned screen surface and controlled vibratory motion.

Technical overview

This type of separator is used where consistent particle size control and reliable process separation are required. The system typically consists of a circular screen frame, a vibratory drive assembly, and one or more screening decks. Feed material enters at the center of the screen. During operation, vibration moves the material across the screen surface. Particles smaller than the selected screen opening pass through the mesh, while oversize particles move outward to the discharge outlet. The separator can be configured according to the required screen opening, separator diameter, and material of construction.

Operating principle

The separator operates by means of a vibratory motor with adjustable eccentric weights. This creates multi-plane motion across the screen surface, combining vertical and horizontal movement. As the material travels over the screen, undersize particles pass through the mesh openings. Oversize material remains on the screen and is discharged separately. The selected screen opening determines the cut point of the separation process. Machine diameter affects screening area and throughput capacity, while the material of construction is selected according to corrosion resistance, hygiene requirements, and process conditions.

Material options

Typical material options include:
  • Carbon Steel
  • Stainless Steel 304
  • Stainless Steel 316
  • Stainless Steel 316L
Material selection depends on the process medium, required corrosion resistance, cleanability, and operating environment.

Available screen openings

Typical screen opening options include:

  • 25 µm
  • 32 µm
  • 38 µm
  • 45 µm
  • 53 µm
  • 63 µm
  • 75 µm
  • 90 µm
  • 106 µm
  • 125 µm

  • Custom screen opening
The required screen opening depends on the target particle size distribution, process efficiency, and product quality requirements.

Design and construction

The separator is built with a circular screening frame and can be supplied in different standard diameters. Typical separator diameter options include:
  • 18" (460 mm)
  • 24" (610 mm)
  • 30" (760 mm)
  • 40" (1016 mm)
  • 48" (1219 mm)
  • 60" (1524 mm)
  • 72" (1829 mm)
  • Custom diameter
The separator diameter influences screening area, capacity, residence time, and deck arrangement. The construction can be configured for single-deck or multi-deck separation depending on the number of fractions required.

Configuration and quotation

To specify the correct round vibratory separator, the following parameters are typically required:
  • Required screen opening
  • Separator diameter
  • Material of construction
  • Product type and bulk density
  • Required capacity or throughput
  • Dry or wet operation
  • Number of screening decks
  • Process temperature
  • Chemical compatibility requirements
  • Installation environment and industry standard requirements
Providing these parameters helps determine the correct screening configuration and equipment construction.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
