Product description
The Oil Skimmers 3F 360 floating weir oil skimmer is designed to remove floating oil, grease and other surface contaminants from water. The skimmer uses a floating intake weir that follows the liquid surface and draws off the top oil layer for transfer to downstream collection, separation or treatment equipment. The 3F 360 is used in applications where oil floats freely on the surface and where a tube skimmer is not the preferred solution due to recovery rate, installation layout, space limitations or fluid characteristics.Technical overview
The 3F 360 is a floating weir skimmer with a central intake design that can skim oil from all directions around the unit. This 360-degree intake pattern allows the skimmer to collect floating oil across the surrounding surface area rather than from a single fixed direction. The intake weir can be manually adjusted depending on the thickness of the oil layer on the surface, making the unit suitable for spill response, first-stage oil removal and general surface skimming applications.Oil removal capacity
Floating weir skimmer performance depends on pump selection, oil viscosity, oil layer thickness, hose size and installation layout.
The 3F 360 floating weir skimmer is designed for rapid recovery of floating surface oil and is commonly used where higher recovery rates are required than can typically be achieved with a tube oil skimmer.
Actual recovery rate depends on the complete skimming system configuration and downstream transfer equipment.
Operating principle
The skimmer floats directly on the liquid surface. As the floating oil layer reaches the intake weir, the upper contaminated surface layer flows over the weir into the skimmer body. The recovered liquid is then transferred to a collection or separation system by the connected pump arrangement. Because the skimmer floats, the intake level follows fluctuations in the liquid surface and maintains skimming at the oil-water interface.Material options
Typical construction materials include:- Industrial float body and weir assembly
- Chemically resistant wetted components
- Flexible hose connection for oil recovery systems
- Materials selected according to fluid compatibility and application conditions
Available micron ratings
Floating weir oil skimmers do not operate using filtration micron ratings. Instead, separation is based on controlled withdrawal of the top liquid layer at the surface. The skimmer selectively removes floating oil, grease and similar contaminants prior to downstream separation or treatment.Design and construction
