Product description

Corrosion resistant filter housings for aggressive process media

This range of filter housings is designed for liquid filtration applications where standard stainless steels are not suitable due to chemical exposure, elevated temperature, or corrosion risk. The housings are supplied in high performance nickel alloys and titanium and can be configured for sanitary or industrial filtration installations depending on process and cleaning requirements.

These housings are typically selected when the filtration step is critical and the process medium contains aggressive acids, chlorides, oxidizing agents, reducing agents, or seawater type environments.

Filtration concept

The housing is designed for cartridge filtration and can be configured for single or multi cartridge arrangements depending on the required flow rate, service interval and available installation space.

Filtration performance is defined by the selected filter cartridge. The housing provides the pressure boundary, flow path and reliable sealing required for stable and safe filtration under demanding process conditions.

Material selection guide

Selecting the correct construction material is a key engineering decision. Each material offered has specific strengths depending on chemical composition, temperature and corrosion mechanisms.

Hastelloy C22

Hastelloy C22 is selected for its exceptionally broad corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and non oxidizing chemical environments. It offers strong resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride containing service.

This material is typically chosen when process chemistry is complex or variable and when long term corrosion resistance is required across a wide range of aggressive media.

Hastelloy C276

Hastelloy C276 is selected for excellent general corrosion resistance and stable performance in a wide range of chemical process environments. It performs well in both oxidizing and reducing conditions and is often specified where corrosion reliability is critical.

This material is commonly used when chemical composition may vary over time or where conservative material selection is required for safety and uptime.

Monel

Monel is a nickel copper alloy selected for specific chemical and marine related applications. It offers strong resistance in seawater and brine environments and is well known for its performance in fluoride containing service.

Monel is often chosen where hydrofluoric acid or marine exposure defines material compatibility requirements.

Titanium

Titanium, typically commercially pure grades, is widely used in chloride containing environments and seawater service due to its excellent corrosion resistance. It exhibits very low corrosion rates in many aggressive environments when properly designed.

Titanium is commonly applied in high purity processes, marine applications and chemically demanding duties where long service life and corrosion resistance are essential.

Design and construction

These filter housings are engineered for demanding process conditions and pressure applications. Depending on requirements, they can be supplied in sanitary or industrial execution.

Typical design options include:

  • single or multi cartridge configurations

  • material specific fabrication and welding procedures

  • surface finishes matched to cleaning and process requirements

Final design details are defined during configuration to ensure compatibility with process chemistry, operating pressure and temperature.

  • Suitable for aggressive chemical, chloride and seawater environments

  • High reliability under demanding temperature and pressure conditions

  • Configurable cartridge filtration designs

  • Suitable for sanitary and industrial applications

Typical applications

These filter housings are commonly used in:

  • chemical processing and specialty chemicals

  • aggressive acid and chloride containing processes

  • seawater and marine related filtration

  • high purity and critical process filtration

  • demanding industrial filtration applications

Configuration and quotation

These filter housings are supplied on a quotation basis. Configuration parameters typically include:

  • selected construction material

  • cartridge quantity and length

  • sealing system compatible with process media

  • operating pressure and temperature

  • required testing and documentation level

This ensures the housing is engineered specifically for the intended service conditions.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
