Filter presses – technical overview
Filter presses are batch filtration systems used with filter sheets and plates to separate solids from liquids. They are selected for applications requiring controlled clarification and reliable filter cake formation.
Unlike continuous filtration systems, filter presses operate in batch mode and allow precise control over filtration conditions. This makes them suitable for processes where filtration quality is more critical than continuous throughput.
Operating principle
Filtration takes place by pumping the suspension through filter sheets and plates. Solids are retained on the filter media, forming a filter cake, while clarified liquid passes through the plates and exits the system.
