Product description

Porous metal tubes for filtration, diffusion and controlled flow

Porous metal tubes are precision-manufactured cylindrical components formed from sintered metal powders to produce a rugged, interconnected porous structure. These tubes enable uniform fluid and gas flow, precise particle retention, and consistent performance in critical industrial, analytical and OEM systems.

Porous metal tubes can be fabricated from a wide selection of high-performance alloys including 316L stainless steel, 904L stainless steel, Nickel 200, Monel 400, Inconel 600, Hastelloy C-276, Hastelloy C-22 and Hastelloy X. The choice of material depends on operating conditions such as chemical environment, temperature and pressure requirements.

Filtration and flow principle

Porous metal tubes operate using depth filtration and controlled permeability through a uniform network of pores. Process media passes across the tube walls, where particles are retained based on pore size while maintaining low pressure drop and stable flow.

This sintered structure provides:

  • precise and repeatable filtration

  • uniform distribution of fluid or gas

  • low differential pressure impact

  • mechanical stability under operational loads

  • high thermal and corrosion resistance

Material options

Porous metal tubes are available in the following alloys to meet application needs:

  • 316L Stainless Steel – general industrial corrosion resistance

  • 904L Stainless Steel – enhanced resistance to chloride environments

  • Nickel 200 – suitable for hydrogen and caustic media

  • Monel 400 – excellent performance in marine and salt-rich environments

  • Inconel 600 – high temperature oxidation resistance

  • Hastelloy C-276 – superior corrosion resistance in aggressive chemicals

  • Hastelloy C-22 – outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance

  • Hastelloy X – high temperature strength and oxidation stability

Available micron ratings

Porous metal tubes can be supplied in a range of pore sizes to match filtration and flow requirements:

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
