Product description

Porous metal sheets for filtration, diffusion and flow distribution

Porous metal sheets are precision-manufactured planar elements produced from sintered metal powder to form a uniform matrix of interconnected pores. The sheets combine mechanical strength with controlled permeability for use in gas and liquid filtration, flow distribution, vapor diffusion, and fluid control applications.

These sheets are ideal for engineered systems where a robust, all-metal, and chemically resistant medium is required for scalable process performance.

Material options

Porous metal sheets are available in a broad range of corrosion-resistant alloys, enabling selection based on process chemistry, temperature and pressure needs:

  • 316L Stainless Steel – general industrial corrosion resistance

  • 904L Stainless Steel – enhanced resistance to chlorides

  • Nickel 200 – high-purity and caustic environments

  • Monel 400 – marine and chloride environments

  • Inconel 600 – high temperature oxidation resistance

  • Hastelloy C-276 – superior chemical corrosion resistance

  • Hastelloy C-22 – enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion

  • Hastelloy X – high temperature strength and oxidation resistance

Filtration and flow characteristics

Porous metal sheets operate through depth filtration and controlled permeation. Process media passes through the interconnected pore network, where particles and contaminants are captured according to pore size while maintaining predictable flow resistance and low pressure differentials.

Key benefits include:

  • uniform pore structure for consistent performance

  • controlled permeability and flow distribution

  • mechanical integrity at elevated temperatures and pressures

  • chemical compatibility with aggressive fluids and gases

  • scalable dimensions for large filter panels or modular assemblies

Available micron ratings

Porous metal sheets can be supplied in a wide range of media grades to match filtration and flow requirements:

  • 0.2 micron

  • 0.5 micron

  • 1 micron

  • 2 micron

  • 5 micron

  • 10 micron

  • 20 micron

  • 40 micron

  • 60 micron

  • 100 micron

Typical applications

  • gas and liquid filtration media

  • flow distribution and equalization layers

  • diffusion sheets for sparging and aeration systems

  • OEM process module components

  • chemical process loops requiring corrosion resistance

  • semiconductor and analytical gas distribution plates

Features and benefits

  • rigid all-metal porous construction

  • repeatable filtration and flow control performance

  • high temperature and pressure capability

  • wide range of corrosion-resistant alloys

  • customizable sheet sizes and thicknesses

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
