Product description

Polyester monofilament filter bag for surface filtration of liquids

The Polyester Monofilament Filter Bag is designed for liquid filtration applications where precision surface filtration, dimensional stability and cleanability are required. Unlike felt media, monofilament bags use a woven polyester mesh with defined aperture sizes to retain particles on the surface of the mesh.

This makes polyester monofilament filter bags ideal for applications where precise particle separation is more important than dirt holding capacity within the media, and where particles can be removed or cleaned regularly.

Filtration principle

Polyester monofilament filter bags operate using surface filtration. Process liquid flows through the woven polyester mesh with accurately defined openings, while particles larger than the mesh aperture remain on the surface of the bag.

This filtration principle provides:

  • reliable particle separation at defined sizes

  • uniform mesh structure for consistent filtration performance

  • minimal migration of particles into the media

  • low pressure drop at high flow rates

Because particles remain on the surface, monofilament filter bags are easy to clean and inspect, and can often be reused when appropriate.

Material characteristics

Polyester monofilament mesh is produced from single, continuous polyester filaments woven into a stable and uniform mesh structure.

Key material characteristics include:

  • excellent mechanical strength

  • stable dimensional performance

  • good temperature tolerance compared to nylon

  • good resistance to many industrial liquids

  • smooth mesh surface for visual inspection

  • silicone free construction

  • availability in food grade materials

Polyester monofilament stands out when surface filtration precision and mechanical stability are priorities.

Temperature performance and limitations

Polyester monofilament filter bags are suitable for a wide range of industrial liquids and moderately elevated temperatures.

Typical temperature characteristics:

  • stable performance in typical industrial liquid filtration environments

  • higher temperature tolerance than polypropylene felt in certain applications

Limitations:

  • not suitable for highly aggressive chemical environments unless verified

  • not designed for deep particulate loading where dirt penetrates media

  • long exposures to high temperatures can reduce mechanical strength

Proper selection depends on chemical compatibility and operating temperature.

Design and construction

Polyester monofilament filter bags supplied by Filtra International are engineered for secure installation and dependable performance.

Typical design features include:

  • woven polyester monofilament mesh

  • stitched construction for strength

  • integrated sealing ring options to prevent bypass

  • compatibility with perforated or mesh support baskets

  • compatibility with standard industrial bag filter housings

The monofilament mesh maintains consistent filtration results across the entire bag surface.

Filtra International provides technical support to ensure correct filter bag selection and reliable performance.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
