Product description

Nylon monofilament filter bag for precise surface filtration of liquids

The Nylon Monofilament Filter Bag is designed for liquid filtration applications where precise particle separation, dimensional accuracy and cleanability are required. Unlike felt filter bags, monofilament bags operate by surface filtration, using a woven mesh structure with uniform openings.

This makes nylon monofilament filter bags ideal for applications where particles must be retained at a clearly defined size and where the filter bag needs to be cleaned, inspected or reused.

Filtration principle

Nylon monofilament filter bags operate using surface filtration. The liquid flows through a woven nylon mesh with accurately defined pore openings, while particles larger than the mesh size are retained on the surface of the bag.

This filtration principle provides:

  • precise and repeatable particle retention

  • minimal particle penetration into the media

  • low pressure drop at high flow rates

  • easy visual inspection of retained contaminants

Because particles remain on the surface, monofilament filter bags are easy to clean and regenerate.

Material characteristics

Nylon monofilament mesh is produced from single, continuous nylon filaments woven into a stable mesh structure. This results in uniform pore size and high mechanical strength.

Key material characteristics include:

  • excellent dimensional stability

  • smooth surface for easy cleaning

  • good resistance to solvents

  • good resistance to alkalis

  • fair resistance to acids and oxidising agents

  • silicone free construction

  • availability in food grade configurations

Nylon monofilament is selected when filtration accuracy and cleanability are more important than depth filtration capacity.

Temperature performance and limitations

Nylon monofilament filter bags are suitable for a wide range of liquid filtration applications but have defined temperature limits.

Typical temperature characteristics:

  • suitable for elevated liquid temperatures

  • higher temperature resistance than polypropylene felt

  • stable mesh structure under normal industrial conditions

Limitations:

  • prolonged exposure to strong acids can degrade nylon

  • not suitable for highly aggressive chemical environments

  • not recommended for applications requiring depth filtration

Correct material selection should always consider liquid chemistry and operating temperature.

Design and construction

Nylon monofilament filter bags supplied by Filtra International are designed for secure installation and reliable performance.

Typical design features include:

  • woven nylon monofilament mesh

  • stitched construction for mechanical strength

  • integrated sealing ring options to prevent bypass

  • compatibility with perforated or mesh support baskets

  • compatibility with standard industrial bag filter housings

The monofilament structure ensures consistent filtration results over the entire bag surface.

Filtra International provides technical support to ensure correct filter bag selection and reliable filtration performance.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
