Product description

High flow pleated metallic filter cartridge for demanding industrial filtration

Metallic High Flow Filter Cartridges are designed for industrial liquid filtration applications where very high flow rates, fine filtration efficiency and long service life are required. The pleated depth media construction provides an exceptionally large filtration surface, allowing high throughput with low pressure loss.

These cartridges are developed for processes where performance, reliability and cleanable metallic construction are essential. The rigid pleat pack design ensures mechanical stability even at high flow rates and under varying operating conditions.

Filtration principle

Metallic High Flow Filter Cartridges operate using pleated depth filtration. Process fluid flows through the pleated metallic filter media, where particles are retained within the depth of the media structure.

This filtration method provides:

  • very high flow capacity

  • low pressure drop at high throughput

  • high dirt holding capacity

  • consistent and reliable filtration efficiency

  • suitability for fine polishing applications

The pleated design maximises effective filtration area within a compact high flow cartridge format.

Construction and materials

Metallic High Flow Filter Cartridges feature a fully pleated metallic filter design with thermally bonded construction to ensure cartridge integrity and eliminate bypass.

Materials of construction

Filter media options:

  • Stainless steel 316L

Internal components:

  • Inner core: stainless steel 316L

  • Outer cage: stainless steel 316L

  • End caps: stainless steel 316L

Sealing materials available:

  • EPDM

  • Buna-N

  • Silicone

  • Viton

  • FEP

The all-metal construction allows use in applications requiring higher temperature resistance and wide chemical compatibility.

Performance characteristics

Typical performance characteristics include:

  • very large filtration surface area per cartridge

  • absolute rated filtration for consistent performance

  • low pressure loss even at high flow rates

  • high dirt holding capacity

  • stable pleat structure under all operating conditions

The rigid pleat pack design maintains performance and prevents media deformation at elevated flow rates.

Available micron ratings

Metallic High Flow Filter Cartridges are available in the following micron ratings:

  • 0.5 micron

  • 1 micron

  • 5 micron

  • 10 micron

  • 20 micron

  • 50 micron

  • 70 micron

  • 90 micron

Micron selection depends on process requirements and desired filtration performance.

Dimensions and configurations

Standard cartridge dimensions include:

  • Lengths:

    • 20"

    • 40"

    • 60"

  • Outer diameter:

    • approximately 160 mm

  • Core diameter:

    • approximately 75 mm

Cartridges are designed for use in dedicated high flow filter housings.

Operating limits

Typical operating limits include:

  • Maximum continuous temperature:

    • up to 100 °C with stainless steel construction

  • High flow capability:

    • suitable for very high volumetric flow rates at low pressure drop

Exact operating limits depend on process conditions, fluid viscosity and cartridge configuration.

Typical applications

Metallic High Flow Filter Cartridges are commonly used in:

  • chemical processing

  • fine chemicals

  • pharmaceutical production

  • water treatment systems

  • oil and gas processes

  • automotive manufacturing

  • power generation

Typical duties include:

  • fine polishing filtration

  • pre-reverse osmosis protection

  • resin trap filtration

  • solvent and chemical filtration

  • cooling fluids and wash solutions

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
