Product description

High flow cartridge housing for large volume liquid filtration

The high flow cartridge housing is designed for industrial liquid filtration processes where very high flow rates, long service life and efficient maintenance are required. This type of housing is used when standard cartridge housings would require multiple parallel units to handle the required throughput.

By using large diameter, high surface area filter cartridges, the housing allows high flow filtration with a reduced number of elements. This results in lower pressure drop, faster cartridge replacement and a compact system layout for high capacity processes.

Filtration principle

The housing is designed to accommodate multiple high flow filter cartridges installed in parallel. Liquid enters the housing, flows through the cartridges and exits through the outlet connection, while contaminants are retained by the filter media.

This filtration concept provides:

  • very high throughput per housing

  • stable differential pressure behavior

  • efficient use of filtration surface area

  • reduced number of cartridges compared to standard systems

High flow cartridges are typically selected for continuous processes where uptime and operational efficiency are critical.

Design and construction

The high flow cartridge housing is manufactured from stainless steel and engineered for reliable operation under industrial conditions. The housing can be configured for horizontal or vertical installation depending on the application and available space.

Typical design features include:

  • multi cartridge configuration for high flow rates

  • hinged or clamped closure for safe and easy access

  • integrated stand or leg support for stable installation

  • vent and drain connections for safe operation and maintenance

  • smooth internal surfaces to support hygienic operation

The housing is designed to allow fast cartridge change out, minimizing downtime during maintenance.

Cartridge configuration

The housing can be configured to hold multiple high flow cartridges depending on the required flow rate and filtration duty. Common configurations include:

  • multiple cartridge stacks in parallel

  • cartridge lengths suitable for high capacity filtration

  • compatibility with different high flow cartridge media and micron ratings

This flexibility allows the housing to be adapted to a wide range of industrial filtration processes.

Operating conditions

Typical operating characteristics include:

  • pressure ratings suitable for industrial liquid filtration

  • operating temperatures aligned with stainless steel construction

  • compatibility with liquid groups used in industrial processing

Exact pressure and temperature limits depend on housing configuration, closure type and installation orientation and are defined during the project configuration phase.

Compliance and safety

High flow cartridge housings are designed in accordance with applicable pressure equipment requirements and can be supplied with conformity documentation depending on project needs. Each housing is pressure tested to ensure safe operation under defined conditions.

Where required, housings can be supplied with CE marking and documentation for regulated installations.

Key benefits

  • Very high flow capacity per housing

  • Reduced number of filter cartridges

  • Lower system complexity

  • Efficient cartridge change out

  • Robust stainless steel construction

  • Suitable for continuous industrial processes

Typical applications

High flow cartridge housings are commonly used in:

  • water and wastewater treatment

  • chemical and process industries

  • food and beverage production

  • pharmaceutical and life science processes

  • utility and plant wide filtration systems

Configuration and quotation

High flow cartridge housings are supplied on a quotation basis. Configuration parameters include:

  • number of cartridges

  • cartridge length and type

  • installation orientation

  • connection size and type

  • operating pressure and temperature

This ensures the housing is correctly matched to the process requirements and installation conditions.

Technical support and validation

Selecting the correct filtration solution often requires verification under real process conditions. Filtra International supports this process through several practical testing and validation options.

Filter samples – available for compatibility and performance checks in existing filter housings.
Full-scale filter housing rental – for temporary installations or process evaluation.
Laboratory and pilot-scale filtration units – enabling controlled testing before full implementation.
Application testing by our team – customers may send product samples for filtration trials and performance evaluation.

These options allow process validation before committing to a permanent installation.
