Product description
Extended life polypropylene filter bag for durable and chemically resistant filtration
The Extended Life Polypropylene Filter Bag is designed for liquid filtration applications where a standard polypropylene felt filter bag does not provide sufficient service life. While maintaining the simplicity and ease of use of conventional felt filter bags, the extended life construction delivers higher dirt holding capacity and longer operating cycles.
This filter bag is commonly selected as a direct upgrade from standard polypropylene felt bags to reduce filter change frequency and improve process efficiency.
Filtration principle
The Extended Life Polypropylene Filter Bag operates using depth filtration. Liquid flows from the inside to the outside of the bag, with particles retained throughout the thickness of the felt media.
Compared to standard polypropylene felt filter bags, the extended life structure provides:
-
improved contaminant distribution
-
slower pressure increase during operation
-
longer service life
-
more stable filtration performance
All retained contaminants remain inside the filter bag, allowing clean and simple disposal during change out.
Extended life media design
The filter bag is manufactured from specially engineered polypropylene felt designed to increase dirt holding capacity without sacrificing filtration efficiency. The extended life media structure allows higher contaminant loading before reaching the recommended change out pressure.
This design:
-
extends filter service intervals
-
reduces filter consumption
-
lowers maintenance requirements
-
improves overall process reliability
The extended life polypropylene media is particularly suitable for chemically aggressive or variable process fluids.
Design and construction
Extended Life Polypropylene Filter Bags are manufactured from high quality polypropylene fibers and fitted with a top sealing ring to ensure correct positioning inside the support basket.
Typical design features include:
-
extended life polypropylene felt filtration media
-
inside to outside filtration design
-
secure sealing ring to minimise bypass
-
compatibility with perforated or woven mesh support baskets
-
suitability for standard industrial bag filter housings
The filter bag maintains its shape and integrity during operation.
Performance characteristics
Typical performance characteristics include:
-
wide range of available micron ratings
-
higher dirt holding capacity than standard polypropylene felt bags
-
stable and predictable pressure drop behaviour
-
reliable filtration efficiency over the service life
These characteristics support both continuous and batch filtration processes.
Material compatibility
Polypropylene offers excellent chemical resistance and is compatible with a wide range of industrial liquids, including water based solutions, oils, acids and many chemicals. This makes polypropylene filter bags particularly suitable for demanding industrial environments.
Material compatibility should always be confirmed for specific process conditions.
Typical applications
Extended Life Polypropylene Filter Bags are commonly used in:
-
chemical processing
-
wastewater treatment
-
surface treatment and coating processes
-
food and beverage production
-
industrial oils and process fluids
-
acids, solvents and chemical solutions
-
